No. 7 (2002)  Editorial

Abstract:

The paper tries to investigate some of Charles Dickens's narratological choices in Dombey and Son, some of the pragmatic features which contextualize this text in the cultural framework of a narrative act. Starting from a number of theoretical considerations which are commonly labelled as narratological, the analytical effort concentrates on the particular relationships within the text and the way they are supported by linguistic matter.

Keywords:

narrative, overt/covert narrator, omniscience, character, emotional management.
