MARKS OF ARGUMENTATION AND POLITENESS IN THE SOCIAL DISCOURSE

Abstract:

In the linguistic orchestra of the European Union, each language is a musical instrument to play its own part in the harmonious concert. In the heat of music, Romanian has listened to other instruments and borrowed some very few sounds, to use in the concerts at home. This is a way of approaching the eponyms and eponymisms, which are very numerous and very frequently used in English and French and which tend to show some implication in the development of the Romanian vocabulary. Our study displays the results of an investigation on the presence of eponymisms in the language of the Romanian written press between 2005 and 2008. The corpus whose results are described in what follows is based mainly on very few successful dailies and occasionally mentions are made to a few local papers.

Keywords:

eponym, eponymisms, Romanian journalese, Romanian vocabulary.
