Abstract:

There are two important reviews that provide information on the diversity of algae from Romania (TARNAVSCHI et al., 1956; CÃRÃUÂȘ, 2002). Due to the recent data on diatom’s diversity in the Danube Delta (CREMER et al., 2004; TÖRÖK, 2004) the author proposes an analysis of diatomological investigations on the species diversity. The first part of the review includes information on the development of knowledge on diatoms from the Danube Delta, sampling sites and importance of monitoring programs. The second part of the review presents and discusses the checklist of species from the Danube Delta.
