Abstract:

Throughout the centuries, the religious, mythological and allegorical perspectives on gift have also provided themes for painting. The paper is meant to suggest different instances of gift giving, including the sacrificial offering, the miraculous healing, the alms, the gift on familiar occasions, the gift with purpose and so on.
