Abstract:

At the level of the casual conversational discourse there is always a permanent process of adjustment, based on production and interpretation. It can be defined by two components: self-adjustment and adjustment to the other. The paper tries to find answers to the following questions: When and why does the process occur? What are its linguistic and nonlinguistic markers? What are its limits? What are its benefits?
