Abstract:

The researches in the domain have demonstrated that the ultrasonics determine substantial changes in the structure of the quenching steels, regarding the hardness, as well the other structural parameters as follows: the dimensions of the mozaic blocks, the percentage of the residual austenite, the remanent stresses, the density of the dislocations, all of these being confirmed by modern analyse methods.[1].

The thermo-ultrasonic treatments have a maximum efficiency on the high allied steels in which the austenite, being stable, remains in huge quantities after quenching. The diminition of this structural phase by applying of mutiple tempering (clasical method) is made with a high consumption of energy and with a low productivity.
