Abstract:

Joint Danube Survey 2 took place between 14 August and 29 September 2007, starting from Regensburg, Germany and ending in Tulcea, Romania. During 9-29 September 2007, the JDS 2 took place along the Romanian stretch of the Danube River.

All elements proposed by the Water Framework Directive (biological, chemical and hydromorphological) and all investigation media have been studied during the survey.

The macroinvertebrates communities have been studied as well, which are representative for water courses. Along the Romanian stretch, 15 stations have been sampled and analysed. All stations were on the Romanian side.

The results on invertebrates communities have shown the moderate pollution of the Danube River and the complex impact of anthropogenic activities.
