Abstract:

Being the discourse of "the best", a political discourse needs to have a verbal "face" (x President) and an iconic "face" (the bust). We shall interpret electoral promises as acts of gift-giving or of playing "God". With any election campaign a voter is the witness of a double "miracle":

- on the one hand, a candidate's social creation through the act of voting,

- on the other hand, a candidate's discursive creation through the act of self-representation.

The political print advertisement (Annex) our paper is based on belongs to the Liberal National Party and it shows Theodor Stolojan's "reshaped" image that includes not only a liberal promise but also the opponents' discourses obtained by suppressing other constitutive parts of the candidate's face.

Keywords:

electoral exchange, electoral representation, political "knights", confrontation relation, political promise (sincerity = intention + trust), intra-discoursal voices, political faces.
