Abstract: | Behind Woolf’s Orlando. A Biography (1928) and behind Vita’s creation of her garden at Sissinghurst, since 1930, there is the attempt at re-creating Knole, the ancestral country house of the Sackvilles. Knole is the great text encoded in the national heritage of England, and both Vita and Virginia, albeit for different reasons and with different tools, intend to rewrite it and recreate it into new texts, namely biography and the garden. |
