Abstract:

The efflorescence is a surface defect affecting dramatically the quality of cast irons. It is known that during solidification in gray irons appear interconnected graphite flakes which resemble a number of potato chips glued together at a single location. In some conditions, the graphite from gray cast irons provokes the phenomenon of efflorescence. In this paper is presented this phenomenon due to induction normalizing preceding an in the case of cast gray irons.
