Using an theoretical concept of polycrystalline sheet metal plate and analysing characteristics of experimentally determined FLD’s for orthotropic sheet metal, it is shown that for those material the tensile test become not representative and is proposed the utilization of planar sharing, planar stretching and compression tests. Those testing methods are ease to implement on conventional testing machines and the obtained results may be used in the sheet metal forming analysis and in the understanding of mechanical behaviour of orthotropic materials.
