Abstract

The intensity of springback phenomenon in U-bending operations is a consequence of the distribution of the residual stress through the thickness of the sheet metal. Different blankholder force values results in different residual stress distributions and consequently in different springback intensity. The goal of this paper is to determine the influence of residual stress distribution from different zones of the part on the intensity of springback in U bending operation. An experimental procedure for the determination of residual stress (hole drilling technique) and simulation by finite element method were used for this analysis and the results were compared.
