Abstract

During the sixties, the discovery of laser systems has revolutionized several
scientific fields. Today, new laser technologies have appeared. Multiphoton microscopy
(MPM) for biological imaging have been identified as a main application of these sources.
However, these sources do not answer to all the needs in MPM. Here, a stat of the art in
laser sources especially developed for MPM is proposed. This demonstrates that the ideal
laser source does not yet exist.
