The paper presents the inventory of fish fauna from the main rivers flowing through the Apuseni Mountains Natural Park. Control fishing occasions were carried out in 22 sampling sites in five catchment areas: the Arieş, the Criş Băiţa, the Criş Pietros, the Valea Stanciului and the Someşu Cald basins.
Ten fish species were identified belonging to 5 families. The species were characteristic to 3 different fish zones: the trout zone, the grayling zone and the mediterranean barbel zone.
The numerical density and biomass recorded low and average values, depending on the river, altitude and sampling site.
Predator species were dominant both numerically and as weight (trout and grayling) at altitudes of more than 500m, while the chub dominated the fish communities from lower altitudes. |
