Abstract:

Phyllosilicate materials are widely used in the development of silicate ceramics.

In this work, we will focus on the study of physical and chemical characteristics, together

with the interactions between surfactants and particles within kaolin and halloysite

suspensions. The objective is to highlight the key factors that govern the stability and

rheology of these suspensions in relation with the formulation step regarding further

shaping through tape casting. The as-obtained results will contribute to optimize the

formulation and the manufacture of high performance textured phyllosilicate-based

ceramics.

Keywords:

phyllosilicate, tape casting, surface charge, rheological properties.
