Abstract
This paper focuses upon animal-related
linguistic expressions that are metaphorical in
nature and approaches them from a cognitivelinguistic perspective.
The corpus and semantic analyses we
have conducted have shown that a large number
of animal terms have metaphorical meanings and
uses, whereas most similes explicitly state the
vehicle and different aspects or properties of this
vehicle.
