Abstract

French Hours at the Romanian Meridian

Our commentary concerns the book ”Ore franceze” (French Hours), which includes, in the form of a complete edition, the interviews between Ion Pop and critics, historians and literary theorists, as well as exchanged ideas with renowned novelists and poets in the French literary field. These personalities lift the veil on their points of view, their ideas and their creative approaches representative of the time intervals from 1973 to 1977 and from 1990 to 1993. Whether it is a question of aesthetic consciousness or of the theoretical and interpretative horizon, there is no doubt that the positions of these personalities were diverse. In an era marked by the crisis of the subject, of language and of institutions, the professor from Cluj showed great receptivity to what was said to him, keeping wide open the range of all opinions.
