Abstract

Myth, a Transmedial Invariant. Case Study

In previous papers, I proposed, defined, and illustrated with some examples the concept of transmedial invariant. Under this concept, I subsume those constants of discourse and imaginary that manifest themselves in various arts and artistic languages or, more generally, in different communication media. Essentially, I consider two types of transmedial invariants: discursive (pertaining to the discourse structure) and thematic (content-related). Particularly, myth could be seen as a transmedial invariant. In this paper, I apply the concept of transmedial invariant to the myth of Prometheus across time, cultural spaces and different media.
